Musical Chair

Learning Outcomes

  1. To use words both as nouns and verbs.
  2. To frame sentences using ' There' in the beginning of a sentence.
  3. To find out the words that has same pronunciation but different spelling.
  4. Children will identify letters, shapes, sight words, vocabulary words (you can use this for whatever lesson you have just completed).
  5. Children will for vocabulary words give a brief meaning of the word

Description Of Activity

How to Play

  1. Class will be divided into two groups.
  2. Musical chair game will be organised in two parts.
  3. In the postcard size paper questions related to words used both as nouns and verbs, questions related to frame sentences using'There' in the beginning of a sentence, questions related with same words that has same pronunciation but different spelling will be there.
  4. When the music starts students will move around. When music stops they will be given a postcard with questions.
  5. Students whose answers are incorrect will be eliminated in each round.
  6. The instructor will remove one chair/Hoop (so that the total number of chairs
  7. The instructor will start the music, and while the music is playing, students will circle the chairs.
  8. The instructor will stop the music at a random point, at which time the students must quickly find a seat on which to sit.
  9. One student will be unable to find a seat (at which point, they are out and must stand to the side).
  10. Be certain not to draw too much attention to the student being out, as some will be shy and uncomfortable with the potential for negative attention.
  11. Have each student stand, hold up the alphabet note card, and face toward the center of the circle (so that all students can see each others note cards).
  12. Very quickly, move around the circle and have each student say a word that begins with the letter they are holding. If students are more advanced, do not allow them to repeat words that have been used before.
  13. If a student gets a word wrong, they are out. Have them remove their chair.
