Cardinal points,sketch and plan.
Name of the Activity – we can co-relate this topic with throwing games, for example Shot put, Discus throw,Javlin throw.
i)Draw a straight line and draw another line perpendicular to it so that we get four equal 90 degree angles, These lines are drawn for the students to practice roteting their body first 900 then 1800 then 3600.
ii) Stand within the circle and throw the equipments (shot put, discus, javelin any one) within the sector. Students will not be allowed to touch any lines of sector before or after the game.
iii) Students will be allowed to leave the circle after equipment touches the ground, mark a symbol where the equipment touches the ground after the throw. During measurement the point where the equipment was thrown by the students will be taken as the initial point and measurement will be done in a straight line from the initial point to the centre of a circle.
Teaching Tips – By these throwing games the teacher will be able to develop concept of distance ,direction and symbol in the student which will help the students co-relate maps with these games. The students will have an idea about the map and will learn it with interest and they will enjoy also.
Equipments- Measuring tape, lime powder, shot put or discuss or javelin.
