Activity
1. The students understands the concept of symmetry.
2. They identifies the symmetric figures around them.
3. They are able to identify the lines of symmetry in a given figure.
4. They can feel the symmetry in a play ground or in a game like volley ball etc.
5. They analyse the position of players in a volley ball court that draws a symmetric figure.
1. The students are taken to a volleball court and asked them to position as players and one of the boy is asked to stand as a referee and identify the symmetry in the positioning.
2. Then they will change the position as per the rules of the rotation in the game and asked to identify the symmetry in the game position.
3. In each case can they find any other line of symmetry other than the line containing the net?
1. When they win the services they may go for the change in position as per the rules of the rotation and tries to find the symmetry involved in the team positioning.
2. They are asked to observe the court and find the lines of symmetry and the pairs of figures symmetric about the line from the volley ball court.
In a figure if we can find a line such that on either side of the line the figure looks same w.r.t. the line , then such a figure is caled a symmetric figure.
1. Through a plane figure the figure of the court is marked and the position of the players are marked.
2. They are asked to identify the pair of figures and the line of symmetry.
