Learning Outcomes

Students will understand what is an ecosystem.

It will enable the students to understand the importance of relation between vegetation and wildlife. 

Students will be able explain how flora influences the fauna of a certain region.

Description Of Activity

1. Students will be divided into two teams.

2. One half of court will be named Grassland (A) and the other one will be named Rainforest (B).

3. What type of animal is found in which type of forest will be explained.

4. After division and labelling, students will be asked to play Kabaddi according to the rules.

5. According to the rules, an animal from Grassland will not be able to survive in Rainforest zone for long and vice versa.

6. The teacher will explain how an animal is accustomed to its own surrounding and won't be able to survive in a different region.

Variations

As students will play the role of wildlife accustomed to a certain region, this game of Kabaddi will create variation in their understanding of both the game and the lesson.

Coaching Tips

This method of learning through play will create a healthy teaching-learning environment and students will remember the lesson for a longer duration.

Equipment/Material Required

Lime powder, spade, whistle and placards for writing team name.
