Description Of Activity

Activity 1.

Students will divided into two groups. The first student of the row of each group can be asked to tell a sentence or anything which has some meaning to the very next student and he will pass the same message to the next one. In this way we will find that the reaching to the last student the same message will have a different or irrelevant meaning. Only because of the ignorance or hastiness in passing the same message sometimes the main meaning or the essence of the message is completely missing.

Here as a teacher I will make my efforts to make the students understand the fact and importance of listening and doing something carefully because sometimes ignorance or hastiness may be resulted in destructive consequences.

Activity 2.

Learn all about the relay race. We look at the best way to pass the baton, who should run in which position, and some fun facts you can share with your children.

Teaching the baton handover technique

Its very important that competitors in a relay race know the best technique to pass the baton to their teammates. In an athletic competition, if the baton is dropped during a relay race, the team can be disqualified.

The passing and receiving of the baton between runners should be as smooth as possible so that it doesn't slow the runners down.

  1. Children should practice the following techniques to pass the baton successfully:
  2. Maintain an arms length between runners.
  3. Hold out your hand behind you, palm up and open for receiving the baton.
  4. Grip  as soon as you feel the baton in your hands.
  5. Keep your eyes ahead and don,t turn around.
  6. Hold the baton at one end, so there is enough room for your teammates hand at the other end.

Relay race baton exchange practice

  1. In groups of four, line up one behind the other, with the person at the back holding the baton.
  2. Move around the area at a walking pace, aiming to keep an arms length between one another as the leader changes direction.
  3. When the person at the back calls hand! the runner directly in front must hold their arm behind them with the palm up and open to receive the baton.
  4. The baton has to be passed down the line in the same way until the front runner receives it.
  5. When the baton gets to the front, the front runner joins the back of the line to repeat the process.
  6. Try to keep moving continuously as the front runner joins the back and gradually increase the speed from walking to jogging.

Coaching Tips

  1. The students will be well guided about the role of thinking before doing anything in life.
  2. They will be given guidance about not doing anything in haste.
  3. Importance of listening carefully.
