Learning Outcomes

1. Students learn about blue rebellion of 1859 in Bengal.

2. To teach how the ryots revolted against the British planters.

3. To teach the condition in which indigo cultivation stopped.

4. From this activity students learn about Hockey Game.

Description Of Activity

In 1859 the ryots of Bengal along with the village headman and Jamidars revolted against the British Planters. So we divide the class into two groups having 11 players in each. One group consists of 11 players form the ryots and Jamidar. Another group form the British Planters. In the hockey match both the teams played against each other and the victory belonged to the ryots and jamidars.

All activities are written by few students who were reporters of news paper and British official.

Variations

We can interchange the team members or we can form new group.

Coaching Tips

From this activity students know that the blue rebellion of 1859 against indigo cultivation was faught between ryots and British planters in which the ruyots got victory.
