Description Of Activity

1. Forming two groups for students to play hockey in which the same number of students will be held.

2. Each student will be given a hockey stick and will teach them how to hold the hockey stick and also about how to stroke the ball.

3. Students from both the groups will compete to take the ball towards the goalpost and try to score.

4. The student who will score more goals will present his/her ideas and express his/her sportsmanship.

5. The opponent will put forth his views about the union.

Variations

This activity is an excellent hockey activity to practice stick handling and dribbling. Start by giving every student a puck (treasure/gold) and a hockey stick. Then have a few students put their pucks away so they can be the pirates. The pirate’s job is to try to “steal” a puck from someone who has one. If a pirate steals a puck, he/she gets to keep it and the person who lost it is now a pirate. The goal is to end the game without becoming a pirate. Again, have them use a hockey puck, then a coated-foam ball, and then a whiffle ball.

Coaching Tips

1. To let the students know about the game on the basis of prior knowledge.
2. Tell the students the method of playing this plain floor.
3. Students should be properly informed about the type of game that is played and that it is played for a long time.
4. To let the students know about the best players of hockey like Dhyan Chand and Dhanraj's personality work.
