Learning Outcomes

1.    To know about various types of food.

2.    Students will see some food items and try to find out where they had come from- the ingredients and their sources.

3.    Students will learn that two or more than two ingredients are needed to prepare a dish.

4.    Students communication and collaboration skills will be improved.

5.    Students critical thinking will be improved as they would be able to critically categorise different kinds of plant and animal food products.

Description Of Activity

             Brainstorming of students on what is food and variety of food items will be done.

Activity 1:

             Students will be made to sit in a circle in the ground. Each one of them will be provided with the slip having name of one type of food written on it like tomato, Apple, fried rice, Paneer Tikka, besan laddu, boiled egg etc. If the source of food is plant then they will jump and move inside the circle and sit there. If the source of food is animal then by jumping they will move outside the circle and sit. If the source is related to both plants and animals then they will hop, clap twice and sit at their original place only. Kids will enjoy jumping.

 

Variations

students can also be made to stand in the circle.

Coaching Tips

Space should be enough. Circle made by students should be big so that they do not hit fellow students or hurt themselves while jumping.
