Description Of Activity

Freeze Dance Fun is a classic and adaptable game that gets everyone moving and laughing. Students will dance freely to music and learn to "freeze" in different positions when the music stops.

Warm-Up (5 minutes):
Play some upbeat music and encourage students to move their bodies freely, stretching and shaking out any stiffness.
Lead some simple stretches like arm circles, leg swings, and torso twists.

Activity (20 minutes):
Introduction (2 minutes): Briefly explain the game of Freeze Dance. Explain that they can move and dance freely when the music plays, but must freeze in place when the music stops.
Freeze Dance Fun (18 minutes): Play a variety of upbeat songs and encourage students to dance creatively. When the music stops abruptly, shout "Freeze!". Students must hold their pose completely still until the music starts again.
Increase the Challenge (optional): As the game progresses, you can add challenges to the freezes. Call out specific body positions (e.g., one leg up, arms in the air) or themes (e.g., animals, superheroes) for students to freeze in.

Cool-Down (5 minutes):
Play some calming music and have students walk around or do gentle stretches to cool down.

Remember:
Freeze Dance Fun is a simple yet energetic activity that promotes physical activity, listening skills, and creativity. By incorporating different music genres, challenges, and variations, you can keep this game engaging for all ages and bring a dose of fun to any PE lesson or party.

Variations

Themed Freeze Dance: Choose a theme for the music and freezes, like a specific sport, movie, or historical period.
Partner Freeze Dance: Divide students into pairs and have them freeze together in creative poses.
Freeze Dance Relay: Divide students into teams and play Freeze Dance. The first team with all members frozen when the music stops wins a point.

Coaching Tips

Variety is Key: Play a mix of fast and slow songs to keep the game engaging.
Be Creative with Freezes: Call out different poses, actions, or emotions for students to freeze in.
Positive Reinforcement: Praise students for following instructions and using their imaginations.
Make it Inclusive: Encourage all students to participate, regardless of their dancing ability.
Adapting for younger children: Provide more prompts and specific actions for younger students to freeze in
