Activity
Improve reaction time and catching ability.
Practice accurate underhand/overhand throws.
Develop awareness of moving objects coming from multiple directions (crossfire setup).
Enhance teamwork and communication.
Students form a large circle standing evenly spaced.
Two soft balls (or beanbags) start on opposite sides of the circle.
On the teachers signal, both balls are thrown across the circle (not to the neighbour).
Students must catch the ball coming toward them and immediately throw it to someone on the opposite sidecreating a crossfire pattern.
The goal is to keep both balls moving at the same time without dropping.
If a ball is dropped, the group restarts and tries to beat their previous time or number of catches.
Key Teaching Points:
Keep eyes on the ball at all times.
Step toward the throw for accuracy.
Catch with soft hands; absorb the ball.
Communicate (Here!, Mine!).
Increase Difficulty: Add a third ball.
Change Throws: Underarm only, chest pass, or bounce pass.
Movement Variation: Players jog slowly in the circle while still throwing.
Challenge Mode: Count how many successful crossfire catches occur in 30 seconds.
2–3 soft balls/foam balls/beanbags
Cones to mark a circle (optional)
