Warm-Up (5 minutes): Fun, upbeat music!
A light jog or jumping jacks to get the heart rate up.
Arm circles (forward and backward) and torso twists.
Practice dribbling the football with both their dominant and non-dominant foot for short distances while walking in place.
Activity (20 minutes):
1. Imaginary Leash (5 minutes):
Explain the activity: Students will pretend to walk a dog while dribbling the football. The football is their "dog" and their feet are the "leash."
Demonstrate how to hold the football comfortably at their side while walking.
2. Walking the Dog Practice (10 minutes):
Have students start dribbling the football while walking around the playing area at their own pace.
Encourage them to use different walking speeds (slow walking, fast walking) while maintaining control of the ball.
You can add sound effects like barking or leash noises to enhance the imaginative play.
Cool-Down (5 minutes):
