Students will be able to identify key elements of Attention Stance through observation.
Students will be able to self-correct their stance based on a partner's observation.
Students will be able to demonstrate proper Attention Stance (Charyeot) with good posture and balance.
Students will understand the importance of Attention Stance for respect and focus.
Play Area Setup:
Open space large enough for students to stand comfortably without bumping into each other.
Lesson Plan:
Warm-up (5 minutes):
Light jogging or jumping jacks (1 minute)
Arm circles (forward and backward) (1 minute)
Leg swings (front and back) (1 minute)
Stretching (focus on hamstrings, back, and shoulders) (2 minutes)
Activity Name: Mirror, Mirror
Divide students into pairs.
One student will be the "model" and the other will be the "mirror."
The instructor demonstrates an Attention Stance while explaining each key point:
Feet together, heels touching, toes pointed forward.
Knees slightly bent.
Back straight, shoulders relaxed.
Arms by sides, fists gently clenched, thumbs touching sides of thighs.
Head held high, eyes looking straight ahead.
The model holds the Attention Stance for 10 seconds.
The mirror observes and silently corrects the model's stance if needed by gently adjusting their posture or hand placement.
Students switch roles and repeat.
Cool Down (5 minutes):
Gentle stretches (focus on major muscle groups used during warm-up) (2 minutes)
Breathing exercises (deep breaths in through nose, out through mouth) (3 minutes)
Note: This lesson plan can be adjusted based on the specific needs and abilities of your students. You can also add additional activities or variations to keep the learning process engaging.
After practicing with a partner, have students perform Attention Stance individually for the instructor's feedback.
Play a quiet game where students hold Attention Stance and the instructor calls out incorrect elements. Students who make the mistake (e.g., slouching, toes pointed outward) must sit down. Last student standing wins.
Emphasize the importance of good posture and balance in Attention Stance.
Encourage students to keep their core engaged and shoulders relaxed.
Remind students that the Attention Stance shows respect for the instructor and fellow students.
Use positive reinforcement and praise students for good form.
Offer individual corrections as needed.
Briefly review the key points of Attention Stance.
Answer any questions students may have.
