Hit the Target Strike

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate correct striking technique using a bat/racket/paddle.

Improve hand–eye coordination by hitting a stationary ball.

Aim and strike a ball toward a specific target.

Develop control, accuracy, and body positioning.

Description Of Activity

Set up multiple striking stations with tees, cones, or low stands holding lightweight balls.

Students stand behind the ball in a proper stance:

Feet shoulder-width apart

Knees slightly bent

Eyes on the ball

On the teachers cue, students strike the ball toward a target area (hoop, cone, wall square).

After striking, students retrieve their ball, reset it on the tee, and repeat.

Rotate between different targets for accuracy and fun.

Variations

Rolling Strike: Strike a ball off the ground with a paddle to roll it into a zone.

Moving Ball Strike: A partner gently rolls the ball for students to strike (simple cricket/baseball intro).

Distance Challenge: Targets placed at different distances—score more points for farther hits.

Team Points Game: Teams earn points for each successful target hit.

Striking Relay: Strike a ball, run to a cone, and return.

Coaching Tips
