Activity
Players will learn the proper technique for performing an Outside Cut with both feet.
Players will improve their close control and agility while dribbling the ball.
Players will practice making quick decisions and exploiting space.
Divide players into two teams and line them up at opposite ends of the playing area, each with a ball.
Explain the Outside Cut technique:
Dribble with the ball at a comfortable pace.
Keep your head up scanning for space and the defender (imaginary defender for now).
When ready to change direction, plant your foot closest to the direction you want to go (e.g., plant right foot for a cut to the left).
Use the outside of your other foot (e.g., left foot) to push the ball away from your body and in the desired direction.
Follow through with your cutting foot for good control and explosiveness.
Players dribble through the cone maze, focusing on performing an Outside Cut around each cone (switch feet for each turn).
After exiting the maze, players dribble towards a designated scoring zone (e.g., designated cone or area) at full speed.
Players score a point for their team by entering the scoring zone with good control after the Outside Cut.
The first team to reach a set score (e.g., 10 points) wins.
Cool Down:
Light jog around the field for 2-3 minutes.
Static stretches focusing on legs, core, and arms.
Add a Defender: Introduce a teammate as a stationary defender positioned near the exit of the cone maze. Players must beat the defender using the Outside Cut to score.
Timed Runs: Time each player's run through the maze, challenging them to improve their speed and efficiency with the Outside Cut.
Target Practice: Set up cones or small targets after the maze. Players must dribble through the maze, perform the Outside Cut, and then dribble towards a specific target.
Start slow and emphasize proper technique over speed.
Encourage players to keep their heads up while dribbling and performing the cut.
Remind players to use the outside of their feet for a clean and controlled cut.
Demonstrate the technique yourself!
Focus on positive reinforcement and celebrate good technique.
Offer individual corrections and adjustments as needed.
Make the activity fun and engaging!
