Learning Badminton Drive Technique

Description Of Activity

Warm-up (5 minutes):
Light jog around the court to get the blood flowing.
Dynamic stretches: Arm circles, leg swings, and torso twists to prepare the body for movement.
Basic strokes: Gentle practice of clears and drops to activate the muscles used in badminton.
Activity Learning Outcomes:

Activity Description (20 minutes):

Demonstration:
Coach demonstrates the correct grip (forehand or backhand), stance, and swing for the drive.
Explain the importance of a flat trajectory and speed for the drive.
Highlight the target area for the drive - usually the back corners of the court.

Practice:
Partners practice hitting drives to each other from the back of the court.
Focus on maintaining a low trajectory and consistent contact point.
Gradually increase the speed and power of the drives.

Drills:
Drive accuracy drill: Target specific areas of the court (e.g., left and right back corners).
Drive and return drill: Practice combining drives with other strokes like clears or drops.

Cool Down (5 minutes):
Static stretches: Hold stretches for hamstrings, quads, calves, and arms to relax the muscles.
Light walking to gradually reduce heart rate.
