Crossover Dribble Fake

Learning Outcomes

Develop the ability to use a crossover dribble to fake a change of direction.

Description Of Activity

Students dribble towards a passive defender. They perform a crossover dribble (changing the ball from one hand to the other in front of their body) as if to go in that new direction, but then continue dribbling in the original direction or change again.

Variations

Perform a double crossover fake.
Combine the crossover with a step fake.
Practice the crossover at different speeds.

Coaching Tips

Encourage a sharp and convincing crossover motion.
Focus on maintaining control of the ball during and after the fake.
Remind students to keep their head up to see the "defender."

Equipment/Material Required

Handballs, cones (optional for marking defender position)
