Cross It

Move quickly and safely across a marked area while avoiding obstacles or taggers.

Description Of Activity

Create a rectangular or square playing area. Divide it into two halves using cones or lines.

All players start on one side of the boundary.

On the teachers whistle, students must Cross It to the opposite side without being tagged or without stepping on marked lines (depending on the variation).

After reaching safely, they wait for the next whistle to cross back.

     

Variations

1. Tagger Version:

One or two taggers stand in the middle zone.

Runners attempt to cross to the opposite side without being tagged.

Tagged players join the middle as new taggers.

2. Obstacle Version:

Place cones or hoops in the middle.

Students must cross without touching or knocking over obstacles.

3. Skill Challenge Version:
Students must cross while performing a movement:

Hopping

Skipping

Side shuffling

High knees

Tiptoeing

Dribbling a soft ball (for older students)

4. Safe Zone Version:
Small “safe circles” are placed in the middle where students can rest for 3 seconds without being tagged.

Equipment/Material Required

Cones (to mark the playing area and middle zone)

Whistle

Optional: hoops, soft balls, or markers for obstacles
