Double Dutch uses two long ropes turning in opposite directions.
Three main roles rotate:
Two Turners each holds one rope end and turns them in alternating directions.
One Jumper enters the ropes and skips in rhythm.
Steps:
Turners stand facing each other, ropes turning smoothly in opposite directions.
Jumper stands outside, watching the rhythm (insideoutside pattern).
When ready, the jumper enters the space between the ropes and begins skipping.
Students work on timing jumps with the rope speedlight, quick footwork.
After 1020 seconds, the jumper exits safely and roles rotate.
1. Beginner Version:
Use one rope first to develop timing, then introduce the second rope.
2. Running Start Entry:
Jumper jogs in and enters smoothly on rhythm.
3. Double Dutch Tricks:
High knees
Side-to-side steps
Toe taps
Turning in a circle
(For advanced students)
4. Double Team Challenge:
Two students jump together inside the ropes.
5. Rope-Switch:
Turners change speed or direction while the jumper adapts.
