Activity
Develop basic dribbling skills, learn to control the ball while moving, introduce the concept of shooting at a target.
Students start at a designated line with a handball. They dribble towards a large target (e.g., a wall with a large circle, a set of cones arranged widely). Once they reach a comfortable distance, they take a stationary throw at the target.
Use different sized targets.
Award points for hitting specific parts of the target.
Allow two or three dribbles before the shot.
Introduce a time limit to reach the target and shoot.
Emphasize pushing the ball forward with the fingertips, not slapping it.
Encourage keeping the head up while dribbling to see the target.
Focus on a simple overhand throw towards the target.
Remind students to stop their dribble before shooting.
