Activity
Improve hand-eye coordination and ball control while moving and reacting to a partner, integrate rotation with catching on the move.
Students work in pairs. One partner throws the ball to the other, who performs a designated ball rotation (e.g., around the head) while moving to catch the ball. They then perform another rotation and throw it back.
Vary the speed and direction of the throws.
Require different types of rotations before catching.
Introduce elements of dodging or changing direction before the catch and rotation.
Encourage the thrower to make accurate passes that allow the catcher to move and perform the rotation.
Focus on catching the ball cleanly while in motion.
Emphasize a quick and controlled rotation after receiving the pass.
