Pivot Fake and Turn
Learning Outcomes
Develop the ability to use pivot footwork and body fakes to create space for a shot or pass after receiving the ball.
Description Of Activity
Students receive a pass while establishing a pivot foot (against a passive or active defender). They make a faking motion to turn in one direction, then quickly pivot and turn in the opposite direction to create space.
Variations
Fake a shot before the pivot fake.
Combine the pivot fake with a step out.
Practice pivoting in different directions.
Coaching Tips
Emphasize a strong and stable pivot foot.
Focus on a convincing fake turn in the initial direction.
Encourage a quick and controlled turn in the opposite direction.
