Learning Outcomes

Improve dribbling speed and control
Develop coordination and agility
Enhance team communication and cooperation

Description Of Activity

  • Team Formation: Divide players into two or more teams.
  • Starting Position: Each team lines up behind a designated starting line. The first player in each line holds a basketball.
  • The Relay: On the coach's signal, the first player dribbles the ball to a designated cone or line, then back to their team, passing the ball to the next player in line. This continues until all players have completed the relay.

Variations

  • Weaving: Incorporate weaving patterns between cones or players.
  • Obstacle Course: Set up an obstacle course with various challenges, such as jumping over objects or dribbling around chairs.
  • Hand Changes: Require players to change hands while dribbling.
  • Speed Dribbling: Time the relay and challenge teams to improve their speed.

Coaching Tips

  • Proper Dribbling Technique: Emphasize keeping the ball low and maintaining control while dribbling.
  • Head Up: Encourage players to look up and ahead, not at the ball.
  • Quick Passes: Promote smooth and efficient ball exchanges between teammates.
  • Teamwork: Encourage communication and support among teammates.
