Reaching for Objects

Learning Outcomes

Improve balance and stretching abilities.
Develop focus and concentration.
Enhance coordination while maintaining a stable base.

Description Of Activity

Have children stand on one foot and reach down to pick up a soft object (such as a ball or beanbag) from the floor.
After picking up the object, they should return to a balanced position on one foot.
Switch legs and repeat the process.

Variations

Add a challenge by having children reach for objects in different directions (forward, sideways, or overhead).
Use a balance board or soft mat to make it harder.

Coaching Tips

Remind children to keep their body straight and lean forward from the waist rather than bending their back.
Encourage them to move slowly and carefully to avoid losing balance.

Equipment/Material Required

Soft objects like balls, beanbags, or cones.
