Balancing with a Pool Noodle

Learning Outcomes

Description Of Activity

Give each child a soft pool noodle or foam stick to balance on.
Ask them to stand on the noodle while maintaining their balance.
Children can also try walking across a balance line with the noodle held in front of them or under their arms to assist with balance.

Variations

Introduce challenges where children need to balance with the noodle while performing tasks, such as picking up small objects or clapping hands.
Increase the difficulty by using different surfaces or having them walk with the noodle under one foot or across their body.

Coaching Tips

Remind children to stand tall, keeping their core engaged for better stability.
Encourage them to focus on small, controlled movements while walking across the noodle.
