Basic Front Kick Drill

Learning Outcomes

Learn the proper stance for a front kick.
Practice executing a basic front kick with correct form.

Description Of Activity

Warm-up: Light jogging, Arm circles, Leg swings

Basic stretches (quads, hamstrings, calves, torso)
Stance: Explain the importance of a strong, balanced stance. Demonstrate the front stance and have students practice holding it.
Hip Drive: Explain the role of hip drive in generating power. Demonstrate the hip snap motion and have students practice it.
Kick Execution: Demonstrate the proper technique for a front kick, emphasizing the use of the ball of the foot and the hip drive. Have students practice kicking a stationary target, such as a focus pad or a bag.

Variations

Distance: Vary the distance between the student and the target.
Height: Have students practice kicking at different heights, from low to high.
Speed: Encourage students to increase their kicking speed.

Coaching Tips

Stance: Remind students to keep their back straight and their knees slightly bent.
Hip Drive: Emphasize the importance of rotating the hips fully.
