Work collaboratively with teammates to achieve a common goal.
Plan and strategize the placement of beanbags to win the game.
Be aware of the playing area and positions of teammates and opponents.

Description Of Activity

Warm-Up :
Lead students in basic movement activities like jumping jacks, high knees, and arm circles to get their bodies warm and prepare for the game.

Activity Introduction :
Briefly explain the concept of the Tic Tac Toe PE Activity.
Set up the playing area: Arrange 9 hula hoops in a 3x3 grid to create the Tic Tac Toe board. You can use masking tape or cones to secure the hoops if needed.
Divide the class into two teams and assign each team a beanbag color.
Demonstrate how players will move within the hula hoops (running, jumping - adjust based on age/skill level).
Explain the rules of the game (see below).

Tic Tac Toe PE Activity:
Mark team starting lines with cones (optional).
One student from each team starts at their team's starting line.
On your signal (whistle or verbal cue), students run towards the hula hoops.
Each student tries to be the first to reach an empty hula hoop and place their team's colored beanbag inside.
Once a beanbag is placed, the student must return to their team's starting line and tag the next teammate.
Teams take turns placing beanbags until one team gets three of their color in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), or all nine hoops are filled.
The team with three in a row wins the game.

Cool-Down & Reflection :
Lead students in gentle stretches like arm raises and leg swings.
Discuss the activity: What did they enjoy? What strategies worked well? How can they improve their teamwork skills next time?

Differentiation:
Younger Children: Simplify the rules (allow multiple students in a hoop, focus on basic movement).
Older Children: Introduce variations for more challenge (movement restrictions, point system).
Safety:

Ensure the playing area is clear of obstacles.
Encourage controlled movements and remind students to be respectful of others' space.
Use age-appropriate beanbag size and weight.

Additional Tips:
Play upbeat music during the activity to add excitement.
Encourage positive communication and sportsmanship among players.
Consider using different colored hula hoops or beanbags for visual appeal.

Variations

Movement Restrictions: Limit movement within the hula hoops (e.g., only one foot in at a time, hopping on one leg).
Point System: Award points for each successful beanbag placement, and the team with the most points at the end of a set time limit wins.
Advanced Strategy: Introduce diagonal placement rules for Tic Tac Toe.

Coaching Tips

  • Ensure a smooth playing area surface with adequate space between players and other games.
  • Enforce the no-contact rule.
  • The ball cannot be taken from another player's possession.
