Powerful Roundhouse Kick (Dollyo Chagi)

Description Of Activity

Leg swings (side-to-side) - 5 minutes.
Hip rotations - 5 minutes.
Torso twists - 3 minutes.

  • Ready Stance (Joon-bee): Start in the ready stance.
  • Chambering: Lift the knee of your kicking leg and rotate your hips 90 degrees.
  • Kick Execution: Extend the leg with a rotational motion, striking with the top of the foot.
  • Recoil: Retract the leg back and return to Ready Stance.

Variations

For beginners: Perform the kick slowly to focus on technique and form.
For advanced students: Increase speed and intensity while maintaining control.

Coaching Tips

Rotate your hips fully to generate more power.
Strike with the top of the foot (not the toes).
Keep the supporting leg bent and grounded for stability.
