Dynamic Stretch Routine

Description Of Activity

  • Standing Toe Touches: Have children stand and slowly bend forward to touch their toes.
    • Steps: Start with feet shoulder-width apart, and bend forward with straight legs, reaching for the toes.

  • Side Reach: Instruct children to stand tall and reach one arm up while bending to the side.
    • Steps: Alternate sides and hold for 5 seconds on each side.

  • Overhead Stretch: Children raise both arms over their heads and stretch upward, standing tall.
    • Steps: Hold for 5-10 seconds and encourage deep breathing.

Variations

For younger children: Let them bend their knees slightly if they have difficulty touching their toes.
For older children: Add more time to each stretch and encourage deeper reaches.

Coaching Tips

Remind children to breathe deeply as they stretch.
Keep the core engaged to maintain proper posture while reaching.
Encourage gentle movements to avoid overstretching.
