Stretching with Scarf Toss

Description Of Activity

  • Scarf Reach Stretch: Hold the scarf with both hands and stretch it overhead, reaching for the ceiling.
    • Steps: Hold for 5-10 seconds, then lower the scarf.
  • Toss and Catch Stretch: Toss the scarf in the air and reach to catch it, performing a stretch in each direction.
    • Steps: Toss the scarf and stretch to one side, then the other, to catch it.
  • Stretch with Balance: Hold the scarf with both hands while balancing on one leg, reaching outward.
    • Steps: Hold for 5-10 seconds, then switch legs.

Variations

For younger children: Use a lightweight scarf or soft fabric.
For older children: Increase the time and intensity of each stretch.

Coaching Tips

Ensure children are focused on both catching the scarf and maintaining balance.
Encourage deep breathing during each stretch.
Guide children to keep movements fluid and controlled.
