Description Of Activity

Children will try to hula hoop around their waists, arms, or even knees. Start with showing them how to get the hoop spinning around their waist, and then let them practice for a few minutes.

Variations

Have children pass the hoop from one person to another in a group.
Use different sized hoops to increase or decrease the challenge.

Coaching Tips

Show children the motion of rotating their hips to keep the hoop moving.
Start with a large, lightweight hoop for easier control.
Encourage them to keep their feet apart for better balance.
