Activity
Improve serving accuracy and consistency under game-like pressure.
Develop serve-receive passing technique (forearm pass, movement to the ball).
Enhance focus and communication in serve-receive formations.
Build confidence in handling tough serves.
One side of the court has servers lined up at the baseline.
The other side has receivers (34 players in serve-receive formation).
Coach/assistant monitors scoring system.
Execution:
A server steps up and serves across the net.
The receiving group must pass accurately to a designated target (e.g., setter zone).
If the pass is controlled to target = point for receivers.
If the serve is an ace, error, or off-target pass = point for servers.
After each serve, rotate receivers (or servers after a set number of serves).
Scoring:
Play to a set number of points (e.g., first to 10).
Keep a running tally to maintain competition.
Target Zones for Servers: Servers must aim at specific zones (deep corners, short serves, seams).
Rotation Challenge: Receivers must rotate after every successful pass.
Pressure Gauntlet: One receiver stays in until they get 3 perfect passes, then rotates out.
Timed Rounds: 2–3 minutes per round—see how many successful receives the team can get.
Advanced: Add a setter who must set the ball after each pass (making it more game-like).
Encourage servers to serve tough but controlled, not just powerful.
Teach receivers to move feet first, not reach with arms.
Stress platform stability (locked elbows, shoulders forward).
Encourage communication (“Mine!”) to avoid hesitation.
Reward consistency and teamwork, not just aces or perfect passes.
Volleyballs (enough for continuous serving).
Net and full court.
Target marker (cone/hoop) for setter zone.
Whistle/timer for structured rounds.
