Freeze and Count Tag

Learning Outcomes

Description Of Activity

Select 12 taggers (they carry a soft tag marker or wear a bib).

All other students move around the area using walking/running.

If a tagger touches a player, that player must freeze in place.

To unfreeze, another student must stand in front of them and count aloud from 1 to 5.

After completing the count, the frozen player becomes free and rejoins the game.

Taggers try to freeze as many players as possible within the time limit (23 minutes).

Rotate taggers each round.

Teacher Cues:

Keep moving!

Freeze like a statue.

Count clearly for your friend!

Use spacedont bump others.

Variations

Class 1

Simple movement: walking only.

Unfreeze with 1–3 counts.

Freeze in fun animal poses.

Class 2

Add jogging and hopping.

Unfreeze by counting backward from 5.

Two kids must unfreeze one friend together.

Class 3

Add running + dodging.

Tagger changes movement style (skipping, side-stepping).

Freeze with one-leg balance until counted.
