Master correct footwork for right- and left-hand lay-ups.
Improve coordination between steps and ball control.
Develop finishing skills close to the basket.

Right-Hand Lay-Up (basic):
Start a few meters from the basket, slightly to the right side.
Dribble towards the hoop.
Take two steps before shooting:
First step: Left foot.
Second step: Right foot (jump off this foot).
Bring the ball up with your right hand, extend arm fully.
Use the backboard to aim and softly release the ball into the basket.
Left-Hand Lay-Up (mirror image):
Start on the left side.
Dribble with the left hand.
Take two steps:
First step: Right foot.
Second step: Left foot (jump off this foot).
Shoot with the left hand, using the backboard.
Form Practice (No Dribble): Players practice only the two steps and finish.
Dribble + Lay-Up: Add one or two dribbles before the steps.
Weak Hand Focus: Practice only left-hand lay-ups for balance.
Continuous Lay-Ups: Players line up, take a shot, rebound, and pass to the next player.
Defender Pressure: Add a defender to simulate game conditions.
Keep eyes on the top corner of the backboard box when finishing.
Ball should be protected on the inside of the body (away from defender).
Teach rhythm: step-step-jump.
Encourage players to practice with both hands equally.
Stress soft touch and follow-through on release.
Basketballs (1 per 2–3 players).
Basket/hoop.
Cones for starting points/lines.
