Perform a basic forehand stroke with correct grip and body positioning
Perform a basic backhand stroke with balance and controlled follow-through
Improve hand–eye coordination and timing
Understand how to rally using both forehand and backhand
Warm-up (2 mins):
Students shadow-practice forehand and backhand swings without a ball.
Step 1 – Drop Hit Practice (Forehand & Backhand):
Each student holds the racket in ready position.
Drop the ball with the non-racket hand.
Hit one forehand shot, then repeat with a backhand.
Focus on:
Side-on stance
Low to high swing
Follow-through across the body
Step 2 – Wall Rally Challenge:
Students stand 2–3 meters away from a wall.
Hit one forehand to the wall → next hit must be a backhand.
Continue alternating strokes.
Count how many continuous hits they can perform.
Step 3 – Partner Rally:
In pairs, students stand 3–5 meters apart.
Rally with the rule:
Player A hits forehand, Player B returns backhand, then switch roles after 10 rallies.
Encourage smooth rhythm and controlled swings.
Progression (Optional):
Add a cone target. Students try to hit forehand/backhand shots towards the target zone.
Watch the ball till the bounce.”
