Activity
Improve spiking accuracy into target zones.
Develop proper approach, jump, and arm swing mechanics.
Enhance decision-making when aiming for open court areas.
Build confidence and competitiveness in attacking.
Divide the opposite court into 3–4 zones using cones or floor markers (e.g., deep left, deep right, short, middle).
One side has attackers, the other side is either open or with defenders (depending on level).
Coach or setter feeds/tosses balls to attackers near the net.
Execution:
An attacker performs a 3- or 4-step approach and spikes the ball over the net.
The goal: hit into a designated zone (called out before the spike or assigned by coach).
Attackers score points for hitting the correct target zone.
Rotate players quickly to keep drill high-energy.
Scoring (Showdown Style):
Hit target zone = 1 point.
Miss court/net = 0 points.
Bonus point for hitting hard AND in the correct zone.
First player/team to reach a set score (e.g., 10 points) wins.
Beginner: No defenders, large target zones.
Intermediate: Smaller, more precise zones (corners, lines).
Advanced: Add blockers/defenders for realism.
Pressure Round: If a player misses, they drop 1 point—forces focus.
Team Battle: Split players into two teams—compete in hitting accuracy.
Emphasize approach timing (explosive last two steps).
Contact ball at highest reach, in front of hitting shoulder.
Focus on wrist snap for a sharp, downward trajectory.
Teach attackers to adjust aim based on blockers/defense.
Keep intensity high—make it competitive and fun.
Volleyballs (several to keep drill flowing).
Net and full/half court.
Cones/markers for target zones.
Whistle or scoreboard (optional).
