Jump Rope Simplified

Description Of Activity

Hold the rope handles in each hand, rope behind your feet.

Swing the rope forward over your head.

Jump with both feet just as the rope reaches the ground in front.

Start slow: JumpSwingLand, then continue in rhythm.

Let students try 510 continuous jumps.

Encourage steady pace and soft landings.

Teaching Cues

Swing Jump!

Land softly on your toes.

Keep your elbows close to your body.

Look forward, not down.

Keep a steady rhythm.

Variations

Single Jumps: One jump per rope turn.

Double Jumps: Two small jumps per turn.

Partner Rope: Two students turn the rope while one jumps inside.

Forward/Backward Jumps: Change direction for fun.

Equipment/Material Required

Students stand in a straight line or spread out with enough space to swing the rope safely.

1 jump rope per child (or shared in pairs)

Open, flat space free of obstacles
