Improving ball control upon receiving a pass
Set Up: -2 x 5m wide gates with cone marker 10 yards away from gates. -Split players into groups of 5. -1 player starts at cone marker and others with a ball each between the 2 gates. Exercise: -First player in group passes the ball to player by cone. -The player controls the ball then runs into either gate 1 or gate 2. -The player then joins the serving group. -The player who played the pass then moves up to the cone. -Same sequence continues throughout. -Play this for 3 minutes. -After 3 minutes stop the practice and get the sever to call 1 or 2 to tell player which gate to run through. Objective: -To get players moving quickly after receiving the ball. Key Points: -After receiving ball get the ball out of feet and move quickly to gate.
