Activity
Develop the ability to kick a stationary ball with force.
Improve balance, body control, and coordination.
Learn to approach the ball with steps and build momentum.
Practice aiming and kicking toward a target.
1. Warm-Up Kicks (Stationary Kick)
Children place their ball on the ground.
Ask them to take one step back and kick the ball as far as possible.
They run to retrieve the ball and return.
Repeat 23 times until they understand the kicking motion.
2. Running Start Kick
Once students understand the basic kick, have them take three to four steps back.
They run toward the ball and kick it with more power.
Emphasize using the laces or inside of the foot for a strong kick.
Repeat 34 times.
3. Target Challenge
Place cones 1012 yards away as a target line.
Tell students:
See if you can kick the ball past the cones!
Show me your farthest kick!
Students attempt to kick their ball beyond the target line.
Move cones further for advanced groups.
4. Direction Practice
Set two cones to form a kicking lane for safety and accuracy.
Students practice kicking between the cones (like a goal).
Keep eyes on the ball when kicking.
Use the non-kicking foot beside the ball for balance.
Swing the kicking leg through fully for more power.
Make sure students have enough space to avoid collisions.
