Activity
Improved foot speed and quickness.
Enhanced coordination and balance.
Better rhythm and timing.
Increased proprioception (awareness of body position).
Place an agility ladder flat on the ground.
Pattern 1: In-Out: Students step into each square with both feet, then out on either side, moving progressively down the ladder. Emphasize quick, light steps.
Pattern 2: Ickey Shuffle: Students start outside the ladder. Step right foot into the first square, left foot into the first square, right foot out to the right side of the ladder, then left foot into the second square, right foot into the second square, left foot out to the left side. Continue this pattern down the ladder.
Pattern 3: Two Feet In: Students quickly place both feet in each square before moving to the next.
Pattern 4: Lateral Hop: Students stand beside the ladder and hop laterally with both feet into each square, then out the other side, moving down the ladder.
Encourage students to stay on the balls of their feet, use their arms for balance, and maintain a consistent rhythm.
