Activity
Improve close ball control and dribbling technique.
Develop agility, balance, and coordination.
Enhance ability to change direction quickly while keeping possession.
Build confidence in dribbling under pressure.
Set up a rectangular grid using cones (about 15m x 10m).
Inside the grid, scatter several cones randomly (the "cone zones").
Each player has a football and starts inside the grid.
On the coachs signal, players dribble around the grid, weaving in and out of the cone zones.
Players must keep the ball close to their feet, using inside, outside, and sole of the foot.
Encourage players to change speed and direction often while avoiding collisions with others.
Continue for 3045 seconds per round, then rest before repeating.
Weak Foot Only: Players must dribble using their non-dominant foot.
Timed Dribble: Players try to pass through as many cone zones as possible in 1 minute.
Tag Variation: One or two players act as defenders trying to steal the ball while others dribble.
Obstacle Challenge: Add gates (two cones close together) for players to dribble through for extra points.
Keep knees slightly bent and body low for better balance.
Encourage small, quick touches to maintain close control.
Remind players to keep their head up to scan for space.
Praise creativity—use of feints, turns (drag back, inside cut, outside cut).
Ensure players avoid bunching up in one area.
15–20 cones (to set grid and dribbling zones).
1 football per player.
Stopwatch/whistle for timing.
