Description Of Activity

1.  Warm-Up (10 minutes)
Dynamic movements: jogging, skipping, side shuffles, high knees.
Ball warm-up: stationary dribbling with both hands, dribble to the hoop and back.
Emphasis: footwork rhythm (step-step-jump).

2. Introduction to Lay-Ups (5 minutes)
Coach explains and demonstrates BEEF + lay-up rhythm:
Balance (footwork)
Eyes (target = top corner of backboard)
Elbow (shooting arm up)
Follow-through (soft release off fingertips)

3. Teaching & Drills (2530 minutes)
A. Basic Right-Hand Lay-Up (5 min)
Start with no-dribble two-step approach (left foot right foot jump right-hand finish).
Add 12 dribbles into the lay-up.
Players repeat in lines from right side.

B. Left-Hand Lay-Up (5 min)
Same teaching but mirrored: right foot left foot jump left-hand finish.
Stress using weak hand for balance.

C. Reverse Lay-Up (57 min)
Players drive under the basket and finish on the opposite side of the hoop.
Focus on using backboard for protection and extending arm fully.

D. Euro-Step Lay-Up (57 min)
Introduce change of direction before lay-up.
Steps: dribble step one way quick step across defender lay-up finish.
Emphasize footwork rhythm and ball protection.

4. Game Application Drills (1015 minutes)
1v1 Lay-Up Challenge: Defender starts behind; attacker dribbles from half court, must finish with a lay-up.
Continuous Lay-Up Drill: Players in two lines (right & left), take turns shooting lay-ups, rebounding, and passing to next player.
Lay-Up Competition: Which team can make 10 lay-ups first (must use both sides).

5. Cool Down & Review (5 minutes)
Light jogging, stretching arms and legs.
Quick recap: ask players to show the difference between right-hand, left-hand, and reverse lay-ups.
Reinforce importance of practicing both hands.

Assessment/Evaluation:

Use correct footwork rhythm (step-step-jump).
Finish with both dominant and weak hand.
