Description Of Activity
How to Play
- Teacher calls all children to stand behind a line or in a circle to explain the rules of the game.
- When teacher calls out a number from 1 to 10 or 1 to 20, children have to run to find partners to make groups of that number.
- Let's say teacher calls out 4 and blows whistle. Children have to quickly run and make groups of 4 by holding hands. Teacher asks them what shape did they make? Children say SQUARE or QUADRILATERAL
- The children who cannot be part of any group is OUT.
- Teacher again calls out another number - say 3. Children run quickly make teams of 3 by holding hands. Teacher asks them about the shape. They say TRIANGLE.
- The children who cannot be part of any group are OUT.
- Game continues with different whole numbers.
- Teacher should select numbers where there is no remainder and that no one is left out. The no. of children left out in this case is ZERO.
- Teacher have variations in calling out numbers
- One less than 5
- Two more than 1
- Predecessor, Successor
- Sum of 2 and 3
- Game continues till Teacher wants to.
Variations
Teacher can call out numbers in increasing order from 1, 2, 3 10, 12, 12 etc. to show that the shape will change from line to triangle and eventually assume shape of a circle. In case a child is OUT, get him/her back into the game.
