Kho -Kho Election

Learning Outcomes

  1. Student will know about the election process of the M L A to ruling party of the state and the role of government in the state. 
  2. Via game it would be easy for students to learn the process in a fun and practical way. And via demos and role play it’d be easy to know the roles and public ideology of a government.

Description Of Activity

How to play

  1. Kho-Kho will be the best lead to play this election game, with fun and delight numbers.
  2. Divide the whole class with 9 and make each a group. Suppose there are 40 students, divide class into 4          groups. Extra 4 will be runners (attacker).
  3. The class will represent as a state. A group will be represented as a constituency. The chasers will be represented as people who are taking part in elections (consider each player in the groups as a party). i.e; 9 players= 3 parties. (we will consider three group of people into 1 party because 9 parties are a lot within 4 groups) So, here we divide 3 people in single party i.e; (A team, B-team, C-team). Here, team is member, who is taking part in election.
  4. Here the players will not only act as a party but public too.
  5. So, when the game starts and chasers will sit in position to chase the attacker. Each push he will give the other chaser to chase the attacker will count as a vote to that chaser, who has been pushed.
  6. Make sure you are counting the pushes each chaser of the groups will get, because that will be counted as a vote.
  7. After each game, we will count votes and group of each team that got maximum pushes. i.e; votes.
  8. The team who got maximum votes is Member of Legislative Assembly.
  9. As of now, we have 4 Groups in class, means we have 4 constituencies in a state.
  10. So among 4 groups we have 3 teams in each group. There is chance that 2 groups might get same team votes. Suppose, team-A got maximum votes in two groups.
  11. So, the maximum team in a group will run the policies and will be the leader. Likewise, the political party that has majority in the state will be Ruling party. And all the other members are of Opposition Party.

Variations

Reminder: The role of public in the game is done by chasers, who are taking part in election of MLA. The each push,i.e; a vote is counted as a public vote and there the chasers won't have to participate as a election leader but as a public. Its count of votes that will decide the leader, which would be anonymous until the counting is done.

So the students won't have to worry about the result.

Coaching Tips

Divide students into groups of 8-9 and call them constituencies.

Make them engage in the whole game and group, because it will not be just a game but a participation in the role of leader. And make sure they will enjoy the whole act. From an election leader to the CM of the state.
