Dribble Master Circuit

Learning Outcomes

Improves ball control using dominant & non-dominant hands.

Enhances hand–eye coordination and movement skills.

Develops agility and quick direction changes.

Builds confidence and proper dribbling technique (finger pads, low dribble, eyes up).

Encourages decision-making and spatial awareness.

Description Of Activity

Create a circuit using cones, lines, and zones. Students dribble through each section while maintaining control, staying low, and keeping their eyes up.

Steps

Start at cone 1 with stationary dribbling (5 seconds).

Dribble forward through zig-zag cones.

At each cone, perform a move (cross, turn, or hesitation).

Enter speed zone quick dribble in a straight lane.

Finish with a controlled stop OR a lay-up (if hoop available).

Repeat using the opposite hand.

Variations

For Classes 3–5 (Beginner)

Stationary Dribble Levels

Knee height → waist height → low dribble.

Walk & Dribble

Slow walking while dribbling in a straight line.

Dribble Around the World

Move around a large circle while dribbling.

Red-Light Green-Light Dribble

Dribble on green, freeze ball on red.

Partner Mirror Dribble

One student leads, the other copies.

For Classes 6–8 (Intermediate)

Crossover Cone Run

Perform a crossover at every cone.

Weak-Hand Challenge

Complete entire circuit using non-dominant hand.

Speed Dribble Race

Timed dribble through the circuit.

Backward Dribble Finish

Final 3–5 m done with slow backward dribble.

Figure-8 Dribble

Dribble ball in a figure-8 pattern around legs.

For Classes 9–12 (Advanced)

Combo Dribble Moves

Crossover → Between Legs → Behind Back at selected cones.

Defensive Pressure Dribble

Partner provides light pressure in a “challenge zone.”

Hesitation Speed Burst

Hesitate → explode to next cone.

Reaction Dribble

Teacher gives signals:

1 clap = crossover

2 claps = behind back

3 claps = spin move

Dribble + Finish

End the circuit with lay-up or jump shot.

Coaching Tips

“Use finger pads, not palm**.”

“Keep the ball low and controlled.”

“Stay in a low stance.”

“Eyes up — see the court.”

“Control first, speed later.”

Equipment/Material Required
