
Activity
1- To understand the context of how Buddhism came into being during this period , the basic ideas associated with it and analysis of the reasons and values associated with them by the students.
2- To understand the life of the Buddha.
3- To understand the events those led to his asceticism.
4- To understand importance of the teachings of Buddhism.
5- To Build Character and citizenship to discussing /communicating the Importance of Buddha s teachings in real life situations for a better world order.
Sports activity 1- Divide a class into 4 groups comprising 10 children each. These groups can play one after the other while other groups will watch the event.The four groups will be given 4 different pictures of an old man,A patient,a dead body and an ascetic.100 metres race will be conducted.First group will run and the winner will be given the picture of the oldman. Second group will run and the winner will be given the picture of the patient. Third group will run and the winner will be given the picture of the dead body & the fourth group will follow suit and the winner will be given the picture of the Ascetic.
Deduction:-The teacher will explain the students the importance of the four symbols in changing the life of Gautam Siddhartha to that of the Buddha.
Yoga Activity 2-Students will be assembled at a palce and be classified into 2 groups.One group will be given a particular syllable to chant for 5 minutes and the other group will be administered mindfulness meditation to watch the breathing process of self, counting 10 exhalations.
Deduction:- The Enlightment Process of the Buddha will be Shown through this activity.
Sports activity 3- The class will be classified into 4 groups.
1- First two group will be told for a 100 metres race and when the race will be completed,again they would be told to run for another 100 metres race saying that now the race is 200 metres.When the group members complain for increasing the length of the race,enable them to understand that desire never ceases.Hence, sorrows descend upon mankind.- First and second teachings of the Buddha.
2- Conduct 800 metres race taking groups so that they run briskly to complete the target. After completion of the race enable them to understand that contolling the desires lead to success or salvation or Nirvan –The third and fourth teachings of the Buddha.
All the Students will be told to do the March past as occurs in Independence day or Republic day to teach them discipline and Synchronisation of steps to get along with others to teach moderation the main teachings of Buddhism.
Through these sports events and yogic activities The story of the buddha will be comprehended & internalised by the students.
