Description Of Activity
How to play
Divide the class into groups of 14 children. These groups can play separately. Each group will have two 2 teams of 7 players each and they play a game of Kabaddi.
One team represents Team Freedom movement [Gandhiji and other leaders of freedom movement], who participated in Civil disobedience movement and Salt Satyagraha. Other team represents the British and Its anti Indian laws
Write names of 7 Leaders of freedom movement on T Shirts of the players [Captain Mahatma Gandhi]
The team freedom movement includes members like this
Mahatma Gandhi (Captain )
Jawaharlal Nehru
Sardar Vallabai Patel
Dr.Rajendra Prasad.
Subash Chandra Bose

Dr. B.R Ambedkar
Select a Kabaddi team of 7 members for the British.
Write the names of 7 taxes and laws imposed by the British on the T Shirts of the players for the British.

Team British Rules:
They can change a rule any time.
Team freedom movement rules:
They cannot set any rule
They cannot make any chain to defend
The team members are not allowed to help another player during defending.
It shows there was no rule of law existed during the British period.
The teacher can explain that the Indian team cannot win the game, if the Indians obey the British rules.
The Indian player, Jawaharlal Nehru declares that The team freedom movement will not obey anti Indian laws and the Indian team want complete Independence, and the British should withdraw all anti Indian laws.
The Indian team disobeys British laws and makes chains and helps one another and wins the game.
The Teacher explains that by disobeying British laws, Indians won in the civil disobedience movement and the British understood that they cannot win in India and they have to leave India.
Variations
When the game starts, Captain of Indian team Mahatma Gandhi declares that “It is sinful to tax salt since it is such an essential item of food”.
From the British side one player states that “Laws are essential and all Indians should obey British laws”.
Coaching Tips
This lesson can be made interesting by bringing creativity such as
Students march to the ground from the class replicating Dandi march.
Suggest one sided rules in favor of the British.
Physical education teacher can give the rules of the game to the students.
