Description Of Activity

How to play

Round 1 ( Attack by British Merchants Team) 

1. The students will be divided into two teams  -Indian Patriots Team and  British Merchants Team. In the beginning there will be 5 participants in  British Merchants Team and 30 participants in the Indian Patriots Remaining 5 students will report the proceedings of the game one by one.
2. Indian patriots will make  10 chains,each chain of three members.
3. Now the members of British Merchants Team  will attack and try to break the chain at the  weakest joint then after breaking the chain they will add those members to their team .
4. In this way at the end of  5 minutes there will be a whistle and now the team strength of both the teams will  be different.
5. (The reporting students will explain the way how the Britishers used their Divide and Rule policy and they  gained power.)

Round 2 (Kabaddi Match)

1. This round will  run for 20 minutes and then  there will be a Kabaddi match between the two teams and the rules for the Indian Team will be different from the rules for the British Team.
2. The British Merchants Team can add members back one by one. They can also change the dimensions of their playing area. They can change the rule anytime and they can appoint a referee of their on. In case of fouls the matter can be referred to external referee  who belongs to their team only.
3. The reporting student will explain the oppression policy of the British like heavy taxes, putting Indians in jail without trial, low salary of the Indian Soldiers  etc.
4. But the team members of Indian team are not allowed to help others during defend. They can't set any rule . They cannot add any member back .
5. The reporting student will explain this relating to the policy of lapse if any king didn't have a son .
6. Then the company flourished with the rules.

Round 3 (Attack by the Indian Patriots Team)

1. There will be attacks by the Indian teams by forming human chains and they will pull the members  back to their side.The activity of the first round will be repeated.This time the Indian Team will add members to it and  gain power.
2. The game will end at the point when all students come to the Indian Team.
3. The reporting student will  quote the Indian leaders and social reformers and their efforts to win freedom back

Variations

1. The number of team members and reporters can be changed as per the strength of the class.
2. Some other rules can be added as per the benefit of the British Merchants Team.
3. Time duration of all the three rounds can be varied.

Coaching Tips

Sick students as well as differently able students can be assigned the work of reporting so that they may also feel a part of the game.
