Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to understand how in the past women were facing inequalities and injustice in the society and many people believe that women are good at only certain jobs. Poverty being the main factor for inequalities among male and female where oppurtunities were always given to male child which results in lagging behind the female child in every field. Later on, some women had enter the field of male dominated areas by breaking stereotypes.

Description Of Activity

In a football ground, we can arrange MALE participants in one side; can be marked as

‘A’ and on the other side FEMALE participants on another side marked as ‘B’.

‘A’ will represent as male player/by boys and ‘B’ will represent as female player/by girls and in both sides, one circle each is to drawn (outside the D-Box). The centre line will be written as Ancient Olympic.

The circle ‘A’ will be of sports events participated by male and the circle ‘B’ will be of sports events participated by female players.

Each events will represent by both boys and girls and name of events will be pasted on his/her back written on a piece of paper. All the students will be in ‘D’ box (boys on male side and girls on female side). From ‘D’ box of male side those name pasted events like Boxing, Wrestling, Atheletes, Discuss throw, will be transferred to circle ‘A’ and on the opposite side no girls will be transferred to circle ‘B’ and it will be written there as ‘NIL’ as no events for females in the Ancient Olympic. This shows the inequalities and injustices faced by women in the past.

Gradually in the 1900 first modern Olympic Games- 3 events like Lawn-Tennis, Golf and Sailing where added and this three events will represent by three girls transferring from D-Box of B side to the larger circle ‘B’. It shows that fewer opportunities were availed in the society by the females.

In 2016 Rio-De-Jenerio (Brazil) summer Olympic games, equal participation of Olympic events can be seen among male and female athletes in all events.

Now, we can show equal participation of events among male and female by showing equal number of boys and girls at both the circles. This shows that the activities performed by male can be matched by female players also. Likewise in our society women are uplifting themselves in every sphere of life.

Variations

Olympic played an important role in advancing gender equality within the sporting arena and beyond it. It has been advocating the meaningful representation and participation of women at all levels, encouraging its stake holders.

Coaching Tips

Subject teacher and PE teachers will play as an instructor role by guiding them where to draw the circles and writing the names of events to be pasted on their shirts.
