Description Of Activity

1. Divide the class into 2 groups of 9 members each : The Chasing Team and the Defending Team to play the game    kho kho

2. The Chasing Team represents the social reformers such as 

    (1) Raja Rammohun Roy 

    (2) Swami Dayanand Saraswati

    (3) Veerasalingam Pantulu

    (4) Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar

    (5) Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain

    (6) Tarabai Shinde 

   (7) Pandita Ramabai

   (8) Jyotirao Phule

   (9) Mumtaz Ali

3. The Defending Team represents unwanted customs and practices(evil customs and inequalities ) existed in the society such as 

    (1) Sati

    (2) Child Marriage

    (3) Polygamy

    (4) Ban on widow remarriage

    (5) Inaccessibility to education

    (6) Female Infanticide 

    (7) No right to inherit family property 

    (8) Stereotyping

    (9) Inferior Status

4. In the game the Reformers Team under the leadership of Raja Rammohun Roy chase and tag the runners( evils practices and inequalities ) one by one and make all of them out

         The teacher can explain as in the game the reformers of India who worked towards change  through their determination and continuous efforts brought changes in the lives of women by abolishing the evil practices and inequalities one by one

Variations

1. We can change the number of players 

2. We can play it as indoor game 

Coaching Tips

Ask the students to collect the picures of social reformers and classify them on the basis of the work done by them
