Children will be able to understand the concept that LIGHT TRAVELS IN A STRAIGHT LINE
The children in the class are divided into two teams.
Two tracks are marked .
Two children from each team are made runners A ans B .
Two more children A1 and B1 from each team are placed at the starting point of both the tracks with a ball respectively and asked not to move.
The first child A is made to run in a straight line and A1 is told to hit him with a ball.
Similarly, B is told to run but in a zigzag pattern and B1 is told to hit him with a ball.
Children from both the teams are given stop watch and table to mark the time taken to hit the running child.
All the chilren in both the groups are made to play in this manner turn wise and time is noted.
Observations are made and result is inferred that it takes more time and effort to hit the child running in a zigzag manner.
The above game can be played and the concept that light travels in a straight line can be emphasised.
Few hurdles can be placed on the track.
One child can be blindfolded and made to run.
In swimming too, the same game can be played.
The chilren are encouraged to play safely and under the supervision of teachers.
They are made to note the time accurately and honestly.
The are encouraged to enjoy the game and also learn the concept in true sportsman spirit.
